To connect from a smart device to an MFP or printer using the Wireless Direct function, enable the Wireless Direct function on the machine. Then specify Direct Connection Group Owner Mode.
Whether the Wireless Direct function is supported depends on the model. For details about supported services, Supported Machines.
Depending on the device in use, the values to specify and the procedure may vary.
Press [Settings] on the Home screen.
Press [System Settings].
Press [Network/Interface] 
[Machine: LAN Type] [Wireless LAN] [OK].
Press [Settings] on the Home screen to display the [Settings] screen.
Press [System Settings] [Network/Interface] [Machine: Wireless LAN] [Communication Mode].
Select [Direct Connect.: Grp. Owner Mode], and then press [OK].
Now connect the mobile device to the machine.
If the mobile device supports Wi-Fi Direct® or WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), specify it by [Wireless LAN: Direct Connection].
If the mobile device does not support Wi-Fi Direct or WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), specify it manually.
Connecting with Wireless LAN: Direct Connection
On the control panel of the machine, press [Wireless LAN: Direct Connection].
When the mobile device supports the push button system
On the control panel of the machine, press [Connect] under "Push Button".
Launch the Wi-Fi Direct function or WPS function of the mobile device, and then connect it to the machine.
Select the machine from the device list.
If you cannot connect, perform [Enrollee] as described below.
When the mobile device supports the push button system
On the control panel of the machine, press [Connect] under "Enrollee".
Launch the Wi-Fi Direct function or WPS function of the mobile device, and then connect it to the machine.
Enter the PIN code displayed on the control panel of the machine in the mobile device. For how to enter the PIN code, refer to the operation manual of the mobile device.
After completing the procedure, press [Home] (
).
If you cannot connect, perform the manual connection procedure as described below.
Connecting manually
On the control panel of the machine, press [Machine: Wireless LAN] 
[Direct Connection Mode] [Direct Connection Settings] to confirm [Device Name] and [Connection Password].
In the wireless networks settings of the mobile device, select the item containing the device name of the machine, and then enter the password.
Enter [Connection Password] that you confirmed in [Direct Connection Settings] of the machine.
After completing the procedure, press [Home] ().

Enter the password using the number keys, and then press [OK].
Press [Wi-Fi Enable].
Press [Enable].
Press [Connection Mode].
Press [Wi-Fi].
Turn off the machine, and then turn it back on.
Press the wireless LAN icon.
Enter the password using the number keys, and then press [OK].
Press [Wi-Fi Direct].
Press [OK].
Open the advanced menu from available wireless connection screen in your Android device.
Tap [Network & internet].
Tap [WLAN].
Tap the SSID (DIRECT-XXXXXX) of the machine.
The screen for entering an encryption key is displayed.
Enter the encryption key of Wi-Fi Direct®.
Confirm the string under the SSID of the machine changes to "connected".
Configuring the Wi-Fi® settings is complete.

Press the selection key beneath [Accept] when you finish entering the device name.
Select [Connection Password], and then press the [OK] key.

Press the selection key beneath [Accept] when you finish entering the connection password.
Press the [Escape] key.
Select [Wireless LAN Direct Connt.], and then press the [OK] key.
Select [Push Button Method], and then press the [OK] key.
Press the selection key beneath [Start].
