Reducing and Enlarging by Specifying a Ratio

Use the following procedure to reduce or enlarge the print image by specifying a percentage between 25 and 400% (adjustable in steps of 1%).

  1. Open the printing preferences dialog box after creating a document in an application.

  2. Click the Basic menu on the Detailed Settings tab.

  3. Select Zoom in the Reduce/Enlarge: list.

  4. Specify a reduction/enlargement percentage by using the spin box of Zoom:.

  5. After making any other necessary settings, click OK to close the printing preferences dialog box.

  6. Start printing.

Reducing and Enlarging to Match the Specified Paper Size

Use the following procedure to reduce or enlarge a document to fit it to a specified paper size. The enlargement/reduction ratio is automatically determined based on the original size and paper size you specify. This method is useful when reducing or enlarging from and to standard paper sizes, for example, reducing an A3 document onto A4 paper.

  1. Open the printing preferences dialog box after creating a document in an application.

  2. Click the Frequently Used Settings tab or the Basic menu of the Detailed Settings tab.

  3. Make sure that the original orientation and document size of the Document Size: list are identical to those set in the application.
    Usually the application settings are reflected here, but some settings may not depend on the application. If different, change these settings so that they are identical to those set from the application.

  1. If the Frequently Used Settings tab is open, make sure that Fit to Print Size in Reduce/Enlarge: is displayed under the print image. If not, select Fit to Print Size in the Reduce/Enlarge: list on the Basic menu of the Detailed Settings tab.
    If the Basic menu of the Detailed Settings tab is open, select Fit to Print Size in the Reduce/Enlarge: list.

  2. Select the physical paper size you want to print on from the Print On: list.

  3. After making any other necessary settings, click OK to close the printing preferences dialog box.

  4. Start printing.
